Win Some and Get Hit With A Bad Beat On Others
To get my nightly tourney fix I head on over to Doyles Room and hit tables. First tourney was very similiar to last nights, I dominated the table through the first half, knocking out a player on the first hand, get crap cards throughout the middle of the tourney and watch everyone else get knocked out. Finally its down to me and one other guy, he has the short stack. One idiotic move on my part gives him the chip lead, a second stupid move gives him the win. Final hand came down to us being pretty even on chips due to the dumb move that I made on the previous hand. He pushes me all-in, I call with a J7 offsuit, I cant really saywhat I was I thinking, this guy had been playing tight most of the game and I go and call…dumb, dumb, dumd….I hate when I do shit like that. Anyway I lose but at least I place in the money so no big deal. I dont care if I am not the greatest, I just want the money.
So second tourney comes and it’s down to 3, a blind stealer and probably the tightest player I have ever had the displeasure of playing against. not much I could do about the tight player but I kept waiting for my opportunity to bust the blind stealer. I finally get a hand that I can play with, when all is said and done I have a full house…2 aces, 3 fours………what does he have……..four 4s!!!!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhh………..I’m out ………..did’nt finish in the money. Win some you lose some.

Tonights Poker Tournament Action
I played a few Sit-N-Go poker tournaments earlier tonight and followed the strategy that I mentioned in my last blog post and I must say that I cant believe how easy it has been to place in the money. I did not have success in all of the tournaments but that was mostly due to not getting the cards that I needed to win. Put it like this, I was in every hand that I played in, made it deep in each tournament and was only knocked out because my opponent happened to draw a really good hand in comparison to my really good hand. Makes sense? Not because of stupid moves.

Sit-N-Go Poker Strategy
Last night I sat down and played in my first sit-n-go tournament, I usually just play in MTTs. Anyway, I headed over to the poker room, payed my entry fee to the tourney and sat down and kicked butt.
I recently got my hands on a sit-n-go strategy guide that is geared toward 9 player tables. Well I followed the guide to a t and voila, I was in the money. I wound up finishing in 2nd place but hey I am not complaining.

Pocket Aces: What’s The Best Way To Play Them?
Pocket Aces, also known as Pocket Rockets are the highest rated staring hand in Texas Hold’Em and can help you win many of pots if you play them correctly.
Although pocket aces are a great hand to start with you have to remember that they are nothing more than a pair, the highest ranked pair but still just a pair.
If you pre-flop against a random hand then pocket aces have an 85% chance of winning. Which basically means that you should win 8 out of 10 hands.
Many novice poker players think they are the nuts and slow play these cards to get as much from their opponents as possible. I have seen this happen time and again, hell I have even been guilty of this a time or two. This is not the correct strategy to use when playing pocket aces, keep in mind they are still just a pair.
When dealt poket aces the correct approach is to go All-In pre-flop. Put the decision for all their money on them. Get your opponents raised and feeling uncomfortable about playing this. You may not secure a large pot but chances are you wont give many players a chance to bust you on the flop. Someone may call your All-In but thats poker right? They dont call this a game of chance for nothing. Pocket aces may turn out to be nothing more than a pair in the end but I will take them all day long!!
