Winning Poker and Loose Players
So tonight I hit the tables at PokerRoom.com and fared much better than the last night. I popped my virtual butt at the table and within 20 minutes I had doubled my money. Most of the players at the table were playing pretty loose, which meant for easy pickings. Although there was this one fella that consistently bet pre-flop, after a few hands of this I was able to get a good read on him. He was basically trying to bluff everyone. He picked up a few small pots because nobody wanted to really challenge him. that is until I figured out his game, once I got involved his bankroll had dwindled to zero and he was out. I really hate taking someones bankroll, except for tourney play, but this guy was just playing way to reckless. When you bet pre-flop on 90% off your hands then something is up and if the other players at the table have any ounce of poker knowledge they should pick up on this. Hopefully this fella will learn from tonights episode. However, I truly doubt it.

It Just Was’nt In The Cards
Tonight I dropped some money down on PokerRoom.com which is one of my favorite sites to play at. for most of the night I was building my bankroll up, untouchable so to speak, could’nt be beat. I stuck with my tight/aggressive style of play. Then I broke my own rule, I became sloppy. Loosened up my game, going in with hands that I would normally fold. Mt bankroll started to dwindle, little by little. So I tightened up my game, began playing my style again. Did’nt seem to do me any good as I was hit with bad beat after bad beat. In all my years of poker playing I cannot recall ever having so many bad beats in one sitting. I started counting after the 3rd hand and came up with 12 bad beats. I had had enough and decided to call it a night. As far as my bankroll goes, I ended up only $5 in the hole…buuuut I did clear my bonus so all was not lost.

My Worst Poker Beat
So I decide to play in the Euro Grand Prix with a $100 buy-in. I mix up my strategy, playing tight, playing loose, playing aggressive. With peoplecoming in and out of tables it’s difficult to get a feel for all the players at the poker table. Anyway, my chip stack is up and down, win a few lose a few.
My chip count is down to 1200 or something, I realize that I am about to get bounced from the tourney. I draw an Ace and a 10 off suite. Everyone folds but the chip leader, he wanted to try me. On the flop a 10 and a Jack and some other card show up, cant really remember right now(Actually would like to forget this hand).He raises, I go all in. It was make em or break em time. I can’t really remember what transpired next as the action hit fast. All I remember is that I had a 93% chance of winning the pot which was at 9800 and a chanceto take command of the poker table. So do you know what happens next, on the river? He gets a freakin queen, one of the only cards he needed that could beat me. Man that hurt. That is my worst bad beat that I have ever experienced. It stung for awhile, I mean how could the poker gods be so cruel.
One good thing that came out of this tournament is that I learned from my mistakes. I have to back off on being too aggressive at times. Well I did’nt finish in the money but I did learn a few things.
I’ve got to go, time to find another poker tournament to play in.
